EPF: Almost 9,000 errant bosses dealt with PDF Print E-mail

Thu, October 22,2009 - ACTION has been taken on nearly all the 9,000 employers who defaulted in contributing to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).


EPF public relations general manager Nik Affendi Jaafar said the figure of 9,000 employers that was stated in the Auditor-General’s report on Monday was accumulated over the years.

Thu, October 22, 2009 - HUAHIN: Prominent lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has been appointed Malaysia’s representative to the Asean Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) to be inaugurated by Asean leaders at their summit in Thailand on Friday.

Wed, October 21, 2009 - KUALA LUMPUR: The International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions (ICC) will carry out a special evaluation on the status of the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) from Nov 14 to 16, the Dewan Rakyat was told Wednesday.

 

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong said that at the moment, Suhakam is an “A” status entity.

Sept 17, 2009, Thu - TAIPING: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) has questioned the rationale of maintaining a law that has damaged Malaysia’s international reputation merely to keep nine people in detention.


Stressing that there was no longer need for the Internal Security Act (ISA), Suhakam commissioner Datuk N. Siva Subramaniam said the country had other laws that could be used against the remaining detainees.
