PETALING JAYA (Feb 1, 2010): UNDER the new fuel subsidy scheme to be implemented on May 1, all vehicle owners are to receive a fixed amount of petrol subsidy irrespective of  the number of vehicles they own or engine capacity of their vehicles.

Motorists who do not own any vehicle will not enjoy the subsidy.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has vowed to do things differently in its renewed fight against corruption.


It will be based on aspirations that are measurable, outcome-based and internationally benchmarked, focusing efforts on three areas most prone to corruption: regulatory and enforcement agencies, government procurement and political corruption.

Hisham: We’ll achieve crime reduction targets PDF Print E-mail

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry is confident of reaching its National Key Result Areas (NKRA) targets to reduce street crimes by 20% and the overall crime by at least 5% this year.

Minister Datuk Seri Hisham­muddin Tun Hussein said it is now focusing on executing the proposals under the NKRAs after a nine-month-long discussion from April.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government wants to eradicate hardcore poverty and reduce the incidence of poverty from 3.6 per cent to 2.8 per cent this year.


The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmap states that there are still 200,000 households classified as poor and more than 44,000 households as extreme poor.

PUTRAJAYA: A Competition Act will be in place next year to protect consumers from unscrupulous trading practices through cartel activities and monopolies.

Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the draft of the new legislation had already been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and would be up for its first reading in Parliament in March.
