KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (Fomca) has urged the Government to set up a special agency to oversee and approve all hillside developments. Fomca president Datuk N. Marimuthu said all development on hillslopes and hillsides should in the meantime be temporarily suspended.
He said the agency should be tasked with developing mandatory standards and enforce them to ensure that no landslide occurred.

Waste management still a grey area |

It has been many months since the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 had been approved. The guidelines that are being developed for waste management will determine the future of waste management in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan.
Fomca hopes that waste management will not be bound to the three major concession-holders who subcontract the waste collection to others.
