KUALA LUMPUR: A new diploma course in humanitarian affairs put together by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), International Islamic University and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is expected to be open to the public by the end of the year.
MRCS deputy national chairman and IFRC governing board member Hisham Harun Hashim said the programme would formalise the training that has been given to instructors in the past.

"We're in the final round, cleaning things up and ensuring that we have the right facilities and sufficient lecturers.

"Now we (can) formalise this module with the universities so they (instructors) will be recognised.

"With this, they can carry out the awareness programme and it will give them the academic recognition to further their studies," he said after the opening of the third Commonwealth Red Cross and Red Crescent conference on International Humanitarian Law here yesterday.
